Sudden excitement, fright, over-fatigue, loss of autonomy, or even physical training occasionally such as taking a walk, jogging, or strenuous exercise can all be factors that lead to palpitations. Massage can be applied to help to alleviate symptoms. 

First, massage the head and face, then massage the back, waist and limbs with soft and relaxing manipulation. Improved therapeutic effects may be achieved by the combined use of kneading the interior line around the wrist with gentle, slow massage. 

You may also massage the chest a region clockwise, or from the upper part to the lower part, with the palm. In the daily life one’s living surroundings should be as free from various noises and irritations as possible, so as to prevent the onset of palpitations. 

Recreational activities are available too, for example, the sight of beautiful scenery, hills and waters, flowers and grass, appreciating music, playing a musical instrument, playing chess, or even attending a ball can make you feel happier, pert emotions and ideally achieve mental relaxation.

Today we will learn about the health care of the abdomen. Massaging the abdomen is actually massaging the stomach and intestine. It is especially advisable to massage this area after a meal. The specific method is as follows. 

First, rub the hands together to warm them up. Then, put one hand on the top of another and place the overlapped hands on the abdomen. Proceed to rub the abdomen with the palm around the navel in clockwise and anticlockwise directions from small cycles to large ones, 36 cycles in each direction. First, after washing your face with warm water, use the forefinger and middle finger to dab olive oil on the skin, from left to right, then again up and down. Massaging the Houxi Point will relax your neck and is good for the circulation in your neck. How to locate this point? To find this point, first slightly clench your hand; the point is located on the medial side, proximal to the fifth finger joint, at the end of the transverse crease ? and at the junction of the white and red skin . Ok, when you are in your office, you can massage the Houxi Point with a pen, or the corner of your desk, and if you are a driver, you can massage this point on the steering wheel until it feels a little numb. Or if you have nothing to hand, what should you do instead? This is the most amazing part of Traditional Chinese Medicine, you can use your body. Hold both of your fists, and beat them together at the point; add some background music and it is more like a Chinese Medicine dance. When you feel your neck is uncomfortable, or if you do not suffer from any neck problem you can still massage the Houxi Point to gain a healthier, stronger neck. Ok, do this exercise 10 minutes everyday, don’t forget!

If you suffer from asthma, usually your family doctor will prescribe you some medication or nasal spray to relieve the symptoms. But in Traditional Chinese Medicine we instead use a very effective pressure point, called the Tiantu point. So how can you find this point? The Tiantu point is right at the indent at the bottom of your throat. Tiantu, in ancient China, used to mean chimney. Chimneys in olden times were usually round, and when cooking, the smoke would puff out from the roof, and drift away. Your throat is a similarly shaped passage, which is where the name comes from. 

Now how should you massage this point? Take a cotton pouch and fill it with soybeans; then sew the bag shut. Then put the pouch in the microwave for two minutes, and while it’s still reasonably hot use it to massage the Tiantu point. This is a very simple heat therapy method. While pressing the pouch against the point, use your fingers to massage the point as well. The beans rolling around in the pouch will comfortably stimulate the point. With care and patience, you’ll see the effects in no time. 

In our daily lives, some people suffer from allergies to things, like milk, protein, pollen, or even cold air. If you feel itchy but have no medication to hand, are you going to keep the bad feeling with you all the time? Of course not. Once again we can use our body to solve the problem. This time I will introduce you to a point to help relieve an allergy. It is called the XueHai Point.

To locate this point, just flex your knee, close the first three fingers together, and the point is located a three-fingers-width bordering the kneecap. Or when your knee is flexed, cup the right palm to the left knee with the thumb on the medial side and with the other four fingers directed proximally. The thumb forms an angle of 45° with the index finger, like this．The point is where the tip of your thumb rests．

After locating the point, massage it with your thumb from top to bottom; generally, you will find the itchiness is not as unbearable as before. Usually, people take pills to kill the itchy feeling. Some pills cause drowsiness which is dangerous when driving. Massage though doesn’t ever cause such side-effects. So massage the Xuehai Point, and drink a vitamin C or orange drink. All this will help you recover soon.
