Massage is a major branch of traditional Chinese medicine. In this episode, we follow Kim to experience some different types of massage available in Shanghai. Kim went to a traditional clinic, Zhongjing Tang, where the doctor recommended a combination of massage and moxa to cure her internal cold. She then went to a modern hospital, Quyang hospital, where her sore neck and shoulders were massaged using a combination of traditional Chinese and Western medical hand techniques. Chinese massage, she learnt, was rigorous and quite painful, but also capable of curing many ills.
Travel reality show Take Me to China Xinjiang heads to one of the furthest trading outposts in the world: Kashgar. There the guests explore the markets and learn how to make traditional clothing.
Traditional Chinese culture has a lot of differences from western culture, so personally I don’t think gay marriage can be permitted by our law. Maybe Americans can accept gay marriage, but we Chinese have quite a solid traditional culture which tells us men and women are very different. I can’t even imagine what would happen if gay marriage were permitted in China. It might be permitted by Chinese law in the future, but there would be a lot of controversy.
