United States Ambassador Jon Huntsman Jr. is resigning from his position as Obama's envoy to China. Is the former governor of Utah preparing for a run against his boss in 2012? Does he have a shot at the GOP nomination? US Ambassador Meets Students

The increasingly tense relations between China and the US have been filling column inches in the media of both countries since the start of the year. From Taiwan and Tibet, to tariffs on tires and chicken feet, new point of friction seems to arise on an almost daily basis.

The dialogue, between Huntsman and students and teachers of Xiamen University, was part of the U.S. diplomat's first official visit to Fujian since he took office in 2009.

It was from this maritime province that millions of Chinese emigrated to countries around the world over the past two centuries – many of them to the United States.

But when Huntsman spoke to the students he didn't look back to the past and the uncounted numbers Fujian Chinese who left their homeland for foreign shores. Rather he looked forward to the prospect of millions of foreigners coming to China – during the 2010 Shangahi World Expo. And the role the event could play in improving decidedly rocky relations between China and the US.
