Young people from around the world have long flocked to the US to study and pursue their careers,and in 2008, about 80-thousand Chinese students were studying on an American visa in the US. But it's not all one way traffic. A recent trend has seen more and more young Americans coming to China.

Amid the global financial crisis and high unemployment back home, more and more American graduates are looking to China as a land of opportunity.

As the world looks forward to 2010 many will be hoping that this year will see a definitive emergence from the financial crisis of the past 12 months. And with the New Year, new political issues are emerging. Not least of these is China's growing confidence on the world stage - and particularly its relationship with the US.

US based Foreign Policy Magazine recently carried a report on the world political climate in 2010 in which it listed key issues for the coming year. Amongst these were Sino-US relations; the Iran nuclear issue; Europe's financial pressures; regulation of the US financial system; and global warming.

Now on the back of that report a poll carried out here in China by the website ifeng.com asked respondents which of these five topics they thought would be the biggest political issue of 2010?

Most Internet users don't think this is a good policy. A lot of people here feel that this is a form of discrimination. Many thought that the government was supposed to be phasing out the hukou system, so they are asking why is Beijing still using it to attract these so-called “top talented people.” Another commenter says the hukou system has nothing to do with attracting more talented people. But others think that this policy marks a good start for softening restrictions throughout the whole country. They also believe that it’s good for the capital's development, but only if it’s implemented well.

He's been predicting global financial meltdown for over 20 years. First in 1987, then again in 1998, and finally, and correctly, in 2008.

Mr. Soros was speaking at Peking university on the topic of the “Causes of the Global Financial Crisis” to some of China's top students and business professionals. He said that in his view A Super Bubble has been building for 25 years and was bound to burst - but it has taken longer then he expected to come about. However due to his firm belief in this theory, the seat of most of his $11bn fortune – Soros fund management – has been one of the few financial organizations to escape the worst of the current chaos.

The financial guru also had good news for China and those investing in the country regarding it's role in financial recovery.

As China’s economy continues to transform so does its education system. Almost nonexistent until the last decade, financial aid is now on the rise here. BON’s Neela Eyunni takes a look at what this growing trend means for students throughout the country.
