Tourist Admissions Too High?

Jul 17, 2010
A: Now just what should you expect to pay to visit museums or national heritage tourist attractions? Indeed should you pay anything? In some countries most museums or historical sites are free of charge – in others there are special rates for citizens or residents – and in others everyone is charged a hefty fee.
B: Recently a high level official from Taiwan's ruling party, John Hsiao-yen Chiang, complained that tourist attractions here on the mainland charge too much. He singled out famous sites like Zhangjiajie and Jiuzhaigou where the admission was 200 yuan – that's almost $30 – a huge some for many Chinese people.
