We've previously reported on the popularity of dating shows here in China. Earlier this week, a number of very wealthy people held their equivalent away from the TV cameras in an event called "global private party pageant".

The event was held in Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Beijing and Shanghai. According to the Guangzhou Daily, 18 individuals, each with at least 4 million US dollars in total assets will choose a wife. Registration costs a cool 25 thousand dollars. 

Organizers say 10 men with assets between them worth billions of dollars and an average of 38 have confirmed their enrollment. Among them are a real estate tycoon, and the boss of a clothing company.

In their application, they had to provide evidence of their real estate holdings, stock warrants, and company's capital certificate among other documents. One Chinese-American even provided proof of ownership of a private jet. According to one report, one man who is looking for a full-time housewife says, once he finds the right woman, he'll buy a Porsche sports car for her.
