As Kyrgyzstan continues facing its worst ethnic fighting in 20 years, outside countries have been organizing large scale evacuations of its nationals. Since beginning the process last Tuesday, China has evacuated almost 1300 of its citizens from Kyrgyzstan, in the largest-ever repatriation of its citizens from a Central Asian state.

BON's Kelda Yuen has more on the evacuations and on what China is doing in light of the current crisis in its neighboring country.

Some people are reacting to the news with a lot of excitement, saying that they support the Iranians fighting for their freedom and saying that the Iranians deserve a better government.

Some have said that an autocracy will eventually lead to unrest so they are expecting to see a revolution spread across Iran.

Others say that it’s not good that the protesters are causing chaos when the country is facing a lot of difficulties – as well as what they call international enemies. They say the protests will only cause more problems for the country. 

The number of reported domestic violence incidents in the world’s most populous nation is a big one – but the true number may be many times as large. It has, until recently, been something largely ignored in many parts of China. But Andrew Livingstone reports on one province aiming to toughen up by finally introducing strict legislation against violence in the family.

Now we reported here recently the case of a young Chinese student who breached airport security to kiss his girlfriend goodbye, triggering the shutdown of a busy Newark Airport terminal in New Jersey. The romantic gesture led to flight delays worldwide, and the arrest of the 28 year old Romeo. He’s now been charged with trespassing and faces a fine of up to $500.

Security video shows Jiang Haisong, a doctoral student at Rutgers University simply ducking under a rope barrier and walking "hand in hand toward the boarding area". But Local Senator Frank Lautenberg is furious that Jiang faces what he says is no more than a "slap on the wrist".

The senator said the act was "premeditated" and did “terrible injustice" to the thousands of travellers who were inconvenienced. He’s even suggested Jiang be deported.
