Students around the country have just been put through their paces with the gaokao, or national college entrance exam. The exam is a major national event in China, as good results can make or break a student's prospects of getting the university education that will assure them of their future careers.

As you can imagine, in the birthplace of Confucianism, education is a huge issue here.  Parents often begin investing in their children's futures from a very early stage, often forking out big money for extra tuition that they believe will stand their children in good stead for the challenges ahead.
