Responding To North Korean Killings
Jun 11, 2010
North Korea is back in the spotlight after three Chinese citizens were shot dead by the secretive country's border guards on a river crossing between the two countries.
The guards opened fire near the Chinese border town of Dandong as the group of Chinese nationals was crossing last Friday. Three people were killed and a fourth wounded. Some reports in the Chinese media suggest they were smugglers.
Foreign Ministry officials here in Beijing say they have raised the issue with Pyongyang and that an investigation is underway.
