With the popularity of Internet map sites like Google Earth, looking at high-resolution satellite images of places around the globe - and even marking your favorites to share with the world - has become an everyday pastime.
However, here in China, the sites marked by some Internet users may have unwittingly leaked information the government considers secret. In fact China’s State Bureau of Surveying and Mapping has said giving away secret information in this way is one of the main problems they face.
Just as in the US, Google Earth has become extremely popular in China. And more and more Chinese people share their photos through the site. Now exactly whether of not secrets are being given away - and what should be done about it if they are - has become a hot talking point online.
