A Chinese graduate of Yale University from China has donated 8,888,888 dollars to the college. The Yale Daily News says Zhang Lei, a successful investor who graduated from the Yale School of Management in 2002, made the donation to help build a new campus for the business school.
It was revealed by university president Richard Levin at a conference in Beijing last week. And if you're wondering why he chose such an unusual amount to donate – 8,888,888 – well, eight is of course considered a lucky number in Chinese culture.
