Earlier this week here on BON we investigated the phenomenon of China's black jails – unofficial holding hoses for migrants from the country side who've come to the city to petition the central government. For those held life is a nightmare. But even for those who aren't thrown into a black jail, or escorted forcibly back to their villages, life can also be pretty miserable. Today BON'S Susan Tart takes a look at why these desperate people come to Beijing – and what their daily life is like when they get here.
