The Chinese government has hired a New York advertising agency to run a promotional campaign featuring 50 of China’s top celebrities in a bid to boost its image abroad. The project consists of a 30-second commercial to be broadcast on international mainstream media, and a 15-minute short film that will be shown at various international events.

Ties between America's and China's economies are already under pressure, following the tire import duties announced last September. The additional preliminary duties on Chinese wire decking have further inflamed tensions.

Wire decking reinforced with structural supports is designed for industrial and other commercial storage rack systems.

The U.S. Commerce Department says that from 2006 to 2008, wire decking imports from China increased nearly 50 percent, topping more than 300 million dollars in 2008.

It looks like an IKEA showroom, but it's not.

It's the 2010 Beijing Energy Saving and Environmental Protection Exhibition, a multi-day event for companies to show off their latest environmentally-friendly products. It's also the most recent in a series of Green events scheduled to take place in China.

On the floor, the two biggest brands in town are Philips and Panasonic, but even local Chinese companies are making a showing. And all of them are jumping on the bandwagon that they see as the next big industry of the 21st century.

In this section, dedicated to light bulbs, the companies push for longer and longer lifetimes, as well as higher and higher prices.

China's aviation sector continues to grow, and with it the demand for commercial aircraft. New initiatives in the industry mean domestically produced planes are set to become a more common sight in airline fleets in the coming decades.

And to feed that demand, a new aircraft production base is now under construction in the city of Shanghai.

The new Shanghai civil aircraft assembly plant will be producing domestically designed and constructed aircraft within three years. That's according to COMAC - Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China - which is in charge of the domestic C919 passenger and ARJ 21 airplane programs.

It's announced construction work has already started near Pudong International Airport on what will be China's largest such facility. The first completed aircraft is expected to roll off the assembly line by 2012.
